"Sora no Jundo" or Purity in the sky is written on a wishing token often used at the shrines, a Torii acts as a gateway to the sky.

Road:

The Ring Road is the Tuners road, those who can feel the rhythm of AT’s and Riders soar along it. All Tuners use the Ring Road to link back to the MIA Pledge Queen of Ring Road. While nobody, including Tuners, know her whereabouts, tuners are still able to hear her ‘birds call’ via their road, and can use that call to tap into her power of Infinite Scale.

Personality:

Shy.Timid.Quietish. While she has come a long way in the past year Keiko has yet to completely come out of her old shell and is very open with the people she knows but will sometimes revert to her almost cowering self when severe stress and lots of new people are shoved in her direction unless it involves the shrine.

History:

Keiko is the eldest child in the family, with her brother Daisuke (13) her only sibling. Her Father is sole owner of a shrine famous for love fortunes, which Keiko has been making since she was five after her Mothers death. Her mother apparently committed suicide, but Keiko herself was not made aware of this till her father departed the shrine recently with her brother in tow. . The shrine brings a fair amount of revenue to the family, but they always seem to be teetering on the brink of disaster for all that Keiko worries.

Her home is very traditional, and her father does own many ‘modern’ ensembles, but she still has a land-line and a tv with cable. She sleeps on a tatami mat she puts away during the day but she does have a desk which is steadily collecting AT parts and notes. The rest of her room has little hope of standing up to the invasion as her wall is already started being used as a note-board.

When she was younger Keiko wanted to be a ballerina, but after 16 years of lessons and performances her father made her give it up so she could keep up the shrine and prepare to take over in his place. Her mother Tomeo had similar aspirations, only she wanted to become a singer, but ‘gave up the starlight’ to go back home and take on the duties required at the shrine after the death of Keiko’s grandparents, whom Keiko and Daisuke never got to meet. She harbors a small amount of resentment now because of the truth she learned recently behind her mothers death.

Daisuke and Keiko were very close in their younger years, but Daisuke has become secretive as of late. Keiko will generally leave him alone when he clams up blaming these now frequently occurring bouts on his raging hormones. Unlike the very traditional Keiko he’s shaved his hair into a Mohawk with green at the tips and spends most of his time sewing in his room unless his sister fishes him out for chores or food. Her food has always been his weakness.

Keiko’s father Kisuke is a former fisherman, and didn’t know very much about how to run a shrine. Keiko stepped up the plate after Tomeo’s death, though the first year was hard on the three they got through it, and now run it efficiently as long as Keiko reminds them of their chores. The family has already decided that the shrine will go to Keiko, as Daisuke has no interest in it.

The Shrine is about as basic as any shrine can be, with a trough to purify oneself and tori leading up the hill to the shrine itself. The shrine is at the edge of town on top of a hill, very picturesque till you’re forced to carry groceries up it everyday. The family house is a not far from the shrine with a pathway through the woods farther up the hill. It provides an amazing view of the city. She’s pretty sick of the place, but doesn’t have the time or funds to look for an apartment in the city closer to school. Plus the place would more than likely fall apart without her.

Keiko got into AT’s quite by accident, a frustrated rider had thrown a pair away and she literally tripped over them on her way home. Fascinated the raven haired girl took them home and tinkered with them. She managed to fix the not to badly damaged AT’s and they hang on her wall, waiting for the day she can throw them back at the guy who just abandoned them. Eventually she bought her own pair and has customized it.

Keiko didn’t even know what “Tuners” were until recently as she was always on the rather light side of it, but now she intends to dig in with her heels and become a top class tuner with an Ace Rider.

For some reason she never understood her classmates started calling her ko-chan, its stuck to her rather irritatingly since middle school and she’s often wondered if it was their way of reaching out or just more bullying on their part.

Keiko has a scar behind her ear from where she fell down the Shrine’s stairs last summer in the rain, but no others. She loves traditional music, and remixes of traditional works. But has a secret liking for pop stars just like any other teenage girl. Keiko also has a massive sweet tooth and wouldn’t be able to live without a pomegranate lemonades, especially in summer. As long as your request is within reason and you have one of those on hand its sure to get done.

When extremely flustered she has a rather comical habit of slapping seals on the object of her mortification, as if she can banish it away like a spirit or demon. Her father has the same habit much to Keiko’s embarrassment. As much as she wants to get away Keiko believes her life will always be tied to the shrine.

She’s never had many friends, and will often get behind in school because of her work at the shrine. Keiko hopes to change this though. However if anyone she knows happens to visit her family’s shrine she’ll be plenty embarrassed as she doesn’t usually talk about the shrine to anyone. However she’ll get over it eventually so when she does you better watch out or she’ll put you to work. Of course Keiko will feed you afterwards though, generally very yummy traditional Japanese dishes.

Her sense of style rarely gets shown off in public, as to avoid working at home she’ll simply run around town in her uniform with the addition of some small bike-shorts if she’s out for a ride. But when Keiko does dress up it’s usually in oversized sweaters and skinny jeans, in summer she’ll pull out her favorite sundress every once in a while, but her wardrobe isn’t very exciting for the most part aside from the occasional seasonal kimono or yakata.

She has double piercings, that no one ever sees thanks to all that hair. Of course her father doesn’t know about them so she prefers they stay hidden. Like most teenaged girls she has problems with her self-esteem. Keiko believes herself to about average in the looks department, but doesn’t spend much time fretting over it. If she could change anything about herself it’d have to be her body shape. She has rather generous breasts for a woman of Japanese descent, but she really wanted hips that seem to make all the foreign woman so sensual looking.

Keiko knows the area pretty well, of course she’d always prefer an aerial view to street level any day. Just don’t ask her about the rest of Japan, as the only reason she’d ever left the city is because of school trips.

She doesn’t know much about politics, more than likely because she doesn’t really care. Keiko spends more time with AT’s and the shrine than the news, so as long as World War III doesn’t break out anytime soon her interest in it will probably remain minimal.

Despite appearances Keiko prefers to work in a hectic environment, as if the pressure of all the noise and people in the room shoot her off like a bullet towards her goal. This has madewith AT’s at her home to be a challenge as her brother and father generally avoid her part of the house so as not to get tangled in chores.

Its takes a while, or not if you're observant, but she has an incredibly 'sexy' imagination. In other words shes a bit of a perv, she even has a collection of hentai manga in box in her room, may kami forgive the soul who pulls them out._{HER BRAIN IS DIRTY AND SHE HAS TOO MUCH SHAME}However we'll see what time does to these tendencies.

---------Time skip Updates-------

For the past year Keiko has gone through much personal change, dealing with the fact Baz probably won’t ever love her, accepting the truth about her mothers suicide and starting to come out of her shell after realizing if she wanted to be close to people she’d have to make the effort or they’d never bother with her.

She spent a lot of time with Teru who is her little brother and anyone who wants to argue can kiss her AT’s. After the attack on Venemence left him a little worse for wear she took time off the shrine to make sure he’d be okay and wouldn’t be alone at the house all the time as he recovered.

The shrine maiden now has a full staff of volunteers at the shrine from local universities and such and after much hardwork the place looks better then it has in decades and has started getting more tourism and visitors. However Keiko’s family is still breathing down her neck about an arranged marriage and refuses to accept the fact she might be able to do this on her own without her mother’s strictly blue-blooded Japanese traditional family getting in the way. She has yet to tell Teru she may loose the shrine as a result of her failure to pick a ‘suitor’ or rather ‘a dick from the bag of dicks’ as she so lovingly refers to the list of suitors.

Not used to having self-confidence her wardrobe has changed a bit to reflect the fact she will now take more risks in her life in general.

This year she has decided to buckle down and take tuning more seriously, so watch out A and B class riders she’s aiming for you! Keiko intends to find herself a mentor and study hard her ultimate goal is become a king/queen tuner.
